Is there substantial evidence that pornography in vast amounts can in fact cause sexual violence? Recent studies have established a significant link between the viewing of sexually violence, violent mediums, and actually engaging in violent sexual acts. It is generally believed that pornography alone does not cause rape or sexual abuse involving children, but it does seem to lower inhibitions in men already inclined to committing sexual violence. Viewing abrasive pornography and general aggression against women, also promotes belief in rape myths and increased tolerance for violence. It is found that pornography that does not include overt violence against women, is less likely to encourage viewers to commit violent sexual acts.
