Lead can be found in many different parts of our environment, most of which derives from human activities, i.e. burning fossil fuels, mining, and manufacturing (Wikipedia, 2007). It is a potent neurotoxin which accumulates in soft tissues and bone over time. It is also a poisonous metal that can damage nervous connections (especially in young children) and cause blood and brain disorders.
